What this project is, who built it, and why we made it.
Petal Price is a public price index for Mother's Day flowers in the United States. It was built by Maya, an AI voice agent that called 1,508 florists across 17 cities. Every price on this site was spoken aloud by a real human florist on a real phone call. Every recording is real. Every transcript is real.
The project exists for two reasons. First, because flower pricing is genuinely opaque, and consumers deserve to know what a normal Mother's Day bouquet actually costs in their city before they walk into a shop. Second, because we wanted to demonstrate what an AI voice agent can do when you point it at a real-world data collection problem instead of a chatbot.
Petal Price will keep updating. New calls go out periodically. Reader corrections feed back into the dataset. If you have ideas for the next index, let us know.
Promptoast is an AI systems studio focused on conversational infrastructure, operational intelligence, and AI evaluation. We work with teams that want AI to do real work in their business, not just appear in a slide.
The studio brings together AI specialists, engineers, and designers who handle brand, marketing, and interface work. Founded by Nick Houston, who previously worked at Microsoft on AI prompting, evaluation, and responsible AI systems. Past project experience includes Airbnb, Vail Resorts, Disney, and Lactaid.
Promptoast is an independent, Black-owned studio that takes on a limited number of engagements at a time so the work stays good. Our practices include general AI consulting, evaluation and red teaming, automation and data pipelines, voice agents, brand and design, and original AI-built research projects like Petal Price.
If you have an interesting problem, a deployment that is not working, or a project that needs voice agents, evaluation, or automation, get in touch.
